A journey to the island of Saint Lucia offers many different experiences. I’ve been visiting this beautiful island for 13 years, and each time it gives me something new. Most recently the chance to immerse myself in nature, to breath out and feel my whole body exhale. From the stunning views of Marigot Bay, described by the American novelist James Michener as the most beautiful Bay in the Caribbean, to the iconic Pitons a world heritage site in the south.
Our Saint Lucia retreat creates the perfect setting to switch off from life, time to take a deep breath in and as you exhale feel your body and mind begin to reconnect.
Our home for the week is set on 600 lush tropical acres bordering two soft sand beaches. Not only do you get a World Heritage Site anchored by the twin peaks on land, the resort’s two crystal-clear bays are part of a designated marine reserve protecting miles of colourful coral reefs teeming with tropical fish.
Welcome to Anse Chastanet, created around the foliage and the flowers, the perfumes and the peaks, the sea and the bird song, it’s the perfect setting to restore mind body and soul.
A dozen rooms are tucked in behind the coconut palms that line the beach and the remainder tiptoe up a flower decked hillside. To make the most of the panoramic views and the refreshing tradewinds, octagonal whitewashed cottages come with wraparound flower draped balconies and louvered windows.
For our retreat we have incorporated two a spa experiences at Kai Belté, translated means house of beauty. Kai Belté spa is located at beach level between the beach restaurant and the scuba centre. There are 5 air-conditioned treatment rooms, an open-air hair and nail salon as well as the open-air cabana Kai Mer overlooking the Anse Chastanet reef. The therapies combine both ancient and contemporary techniques in a natural manner. They are designed to bring balance and equilibrium to meet the needs of each individual.
The spa product range includes natural ingredients from the resorts organic farm Emerald’s, aromatherapy products from Aromatherapy Associates and Ayurvedic products from Tara. Aromatherapy Associates products are rich in precious essential oils and active botanical extracts, designed to soothe and calm the mind, bring the emotions into balance and ease strains, tension and blockages in the body and skin. Tara products have been developed by faithfully following Ayurvedic traditions and principles. Ayurveda is a 5000 year old healing science from India that utilizes the therapeutic properties of herbs and essential oils to help restore balance and well-being. The therapists have undergone intensive Ayurvedic training learning the philosophy, history and beliefs of Ayurveda. They are qualified to assist clients in learning more about Ayurveda and their own specific dosha as well as the Ayurvedic treatment modalities.

During the retreat we have handpicked some very different yoga and meditation experiences for you to try.
Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga
Stand up paddleboard yoga is asanas (yoga poses) practiced on the paddleboard in the most serene setting you can imagine. Moving to the water adds a whole new dimension to your practice, on the water you have no choice but to be present and focused. Your mind has no desire to wonder off to other thoughts about the past or the future. You can let go of your expectations and judgments with your mind focused on the foundations of yoga. It ́s a fun practice with some major benefits, for the mind as well as the body, and the best part is if it gets too hot, then a cooling dip in the sea is not far.
A hike finished with yoga
Enjoy a beautiful hike, with medium intensity, either in the morning or the afternoon that finishes with a refreshing mind and body calming yoga session in the open air, one with nature. The hike will begin on the beach, from there we will gradually hike up along the trails and finish with a slow yoga practice that is suitable for everybody on a open air deck located high up on Morne Chastanet mountain overlooking the sea and the beautiful Pitons. The view is spectacular and the location is very serene and quiet, complementing the yoga session to perfection.
Meditation and Pranayama
Meditation is the medicine of the mind, a practice in which an individual trains to calm the mind and bring forth a more present consciousness. It is not always easy to accomplish this by yourself, and therefore a guided meditation is an excellent way to give a break to the busy mind. The class is a guided meditation in which a practitioner follows the mental instructions given by the teacher. Pranayama means to control of the breath or the vital energy. Pranayama is just as important and beneficial as yoga asanas and meditation. Pranayama consists of meditative breathing techniques that will help to calm and strengthen the mind and centre the self, and assists with the meditation practice.
Detox Through Yoga
These are practices of purification given in Hatha Yoga to purify and prepare the body for more advanced form of Yoga practices. Shatkarma practices are excellent in alleviating disease and several chronic respiratory and digestive ailments. They also work on a psychological level to impart an inner feeling of lightness and well- being.
Yoga Body Works and Stretches
We work in the belief that tightened muscles can lead to the diminished flow of energy in your body. When energy can’t flow freely, you can become inflexible, suffer pain and feel stiff. Overtime, this can lead to shortened muscles and connective tissue that affects your posture, immunity and organ function — all of which can speed up aging and disability.
This session consists of a series of interactive movements, stretches and rhythmic massage along the body’s energy lines and pressure points. It is a radically relaxing and deeply revitalizing form of energy- balancing bodywork, uniquely blending assisted yoga postures, stretches, breath techniques and traditional Thai massage techniques into a blissfully integrated experience.
Pranayama mudras and bandhas
A Yoga technique to control our breathing that can result in an increase of the flow of energy within ourselves. While Mudras are best described as devotional and aesthetic gestures lined with emotions, Bandhas refer to a psychic action of locking prana (life force) in certain areas of the body. With Pranayama you learn to control the intake and outflow of breath which teaches a better understanding of how to connect body and mind.
To give you a deeper sense of the island and it’s history we can included some additional activities.
A mindful chocolate sensory tasting at the Anse Chasenent’s Chocolate Laboratory! There are over 2000 cocoa trees on the resort estates, including the organic farm Emerald’s in the Soufriere Hills.
